1. Start by inserting a new 9V battery into the battery compartment of the stud sensor.
2. Place the stud sensor flat against the wall where you want to start your scan. Ensure that it is not directly on a wall stud.
3. Press and hold the power button. Most Zircon stud sensors have an indication light that will flash or turn on once the power is on.
4. Slowly slide the stud sensor horizontally across the wall. Make sure to keep the device flat against the wall as you move it.
5. The stud sensor will emit a beep and/or the light indicator will flash when it detects a stud. This signals that you've found the edge of a stud.
6. Continue moving the sensor past the point where it first signaled. It will signal again when it reaches the other edge of the stud. Mark both edges with a pencil.
7. The center of the stud is between these two marks. Draw a small vertical line to mark the stud center.
8. Release the power button and repeat the process for any other areas you wish to locate a stud. Remember: It's best to test the StudSensor on a part of the wall where you know there is a stud, such as near a light switch, to ensure it's working correctly.
